Now, be reasonable, all my chums and fellow writers and readers, Facebook and otherwise. What is the point of my diligently updating with my site and giving it a new look all the way through if you’re just going to sit on your hands and not take a look? I mean, goodness me. It’s there at www.bruceharris.org
Presented so that you don’t need a degree in computer science to find your way around, or a guide to obscure English to understand what it’s about, there are stories, poems, resources, links all over the place, and there is also an advice site for would-be or already trying writers at http://writingshortfiction.org
Now that yall have finished sitting round on beaches toasting yourselves, or if you haven’t yet, you soon will be, maybe the author or the poet (or both) which has always been lurking around will finally get the chance to emerge into the light of day. It’s going to be a long, long autumn and winter if you’ve got nothing to do but work or sitting inside watching the wind, the rain and the falling leaves. I think it’s being so cheerful which keeps me going.
O.K., I hear you saying, you cynics, what is the guy after, apart from wanting everyone to buy his damn books. Well, maybe, but there again, a guy’s got to live, and being as all this stuff has done this and that in competitions, it’s just a nice idea to think somebody might actually be reading it. Nobody much read Jane Austen until after she died; O.K., I’m no Jane Austen (is that a bad thing? – discuss) but I don’t really want to have to pop off before anyone reads my modest efforts. Gimme a break.
And in any case, just to prove my bona fides (look it up), there’s a whole raft of free stuff on my site and the WSF site is free to all and for all. What’s the problem?
Talk to you in September when the sand’s out of your toes and the sun cream’s back where it started.
